Bats on Hell Wath

As part of our ongoing survey work a small group of volunteers were out on Sunday 13th October to check on all the bat boxes.
John Pearse, a Trustee and certified bat surveyor, led the group and brought along an endoscope so we could see inside the bat boxes to identify the number and species of bat inside. Not all bat boxes were occupied, but we found 10 bats (Sopranos and Common Pipistrelles) in six different locations. It is very encouraging to know that bats are a feature of the ecosystem at Hell Wath and that our bat boxes are providing a roosting spot for them.
