Last winter an area of overgrown hawthorn and blackthorn (opposite our veteran oak tree) was thinned out and cut back, exposing an area of flat ground and a bank. This allowed much more light onto the flat ground and a profusion of wildflowers, including orchids, flowered as a result.

This winter, on 30th November, a group of about 12 volunteers answered our call to help plant out 1,000 native bluebell bulbs, 1,000 wood anemones and 100 wild cyclamen bulbs across the bank. It may take a year or two for these to settle in, but we are hoping these will become established to produce a lovely show of wildflowers across the bank in Spring.
