Introduction to Butterfly Monitoring
Venue: Ripon Panthers Clubhouse
Time: Meet at 1pm
Duration: Expected to last a couple of hours
This is a refresher/introduction to our Butterfly Monitoring Programme. Everyone is welcome and no experience is necessary, just an ability to walk around Hell Wath (a gentle walk usually lasting an hour) watching out for and recording any butterflies you see. There are picture sheets to help with identification (tricky at first but it gets easier !)
The idea is that we meet up at the Panthers clubhouse so the butterfly survey route, recording sheets and identification tools can be explained. Then we will all head off together to complete a trial survey.
We look forward to seeing you and hope you will participate in the rota to complete this important survey work. It’s sociable and fun !
The survey takes places from April to September and you would be asked to take part in a survey once every five weeks ( you are welcome to volunteer for more ! ). Each survey is allocated a week and a survey group who decide which day of that week suits best (down to weather and people’s availabilty).
